Franciscan Monastery

back to overview

On the terrace in front of the Franciscan St Stephen's Church we have a magnificent view of the town. Its topography can provide information not only on Füssen's history, but also indicates the development of its trends in social and economic structures. At the highest point the Hohes Schloss, or High Palace, towers up over the sea of houses, and a little lower, but still elevated, we can see the defiant outlines of St Mang's Monastery. The High Palace's clock tower, its rich colours creating a contrast, dominates the silhouette of the town.
