Entrance to St Anne's Chapel
St Anne's Chapel was probably the first monastery church of the Benedictine Monastery of St Mang, and it goes back to the 9th century. In it you can see the other aspect of the baroque enjoyment of life. Besides the splendour of baroque architecture, besides the most lavish festivities celebrated by those who could afford them, there was the permanent feeling of approaching death, which played a perfectly normal part in the lives of people in the Middle Ages and the baroque age.
